Psalm 8
A Reason to PRAISE.
Man this
one is good to me! So not that we need a reason to praise God, because
we should do it JUST BECAUSE HE'S GOD. But if you're looking for a
reason, here's one ...
1 O LORD our Lord, HOW EXCELLENT is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
The chapter starts out by proclaiming Christ as EXCELLENT. I just like the word - excellent. Lol
Excellent - SUPERIOR; of the highest or finest quality; exceptionally good of its kind.
What is man ...
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
This
passage of scripture, really illuminates the power that God extents to
us just through his creation. Why is it that God honors us as His
people?
Verses 5 and 6 show us a vivid image of how God views/trusts us.
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
We are just A LITTLE lower than the Angels! Crowned with Glory and Honor! We dominate ALL of the things He created.
That's crazy! One of things that we must be careful about is acknowledging this favor, glory, honor, and dominion. Christ intended for us to be glorified if we operate in His ways. (1 Peter 2:9) says

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a
peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the PRAISES of him who hath
called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
We
are set apart from everyone to offer PRAISES of God. We should praise
God in our decisions, on the job, and even in our communities. Many
people think that praising God is only a verbal thing or something you
have to do a specific way. Praise is defined by showing gratitude. It is our way of showing God that we commend or glorify what He's done.
There
is sooo much reason to live a lifestyle of PRAISE after reading Psalm 8
because we are able to see how God views us. He's given us POWER! (Glory, Honor, Dominion) In your free time, type those words into your phone/computer and read through the definitions! Those are all granted us just for being mankind! We didn't even have to earn that privilege. Our BROTHER is Jesus!
The chapter closes with the same declaration that it opens with in verse 9.
9 O LORD our Lord, HOW EXCELLENT is thy name in all the earth!

Prayer:
Dear Lord,
How
SUPERIOR You are! Thank You Lord that you view me as important as you
do! I could not do ANYTHING to earn the things You've extended to me and
blessed me with but You did it anyway. When I think about that, it
makes me feel good! Help me to live out a lifestyle of PRAISE because I
commend You for doing the things that only You-God can do. I glorify You
for viewing me as worthy to be used by You. As I grow more in You,
continue to reveal Yourself to me so I can better understand the POWER
You've extended to me AND the responsibility of PRAISE that I have to
You. Thank You for fulfilling Your Word.
