”And we’ll sing songs to the Glory of the Lord….” (Wait, I know that *bleep bleep* didn’t say dat bout my mama!

"Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be."

James 3:10.

If y’all haven’t read the book of James, PLEASE DON”T if you don’t want to be convicted. Because you will. James was spitting that knowledge. No lie. Today, however, I only want to focus on the truth he was speaking in James 3. This scripture was heavy on my heart today because in my overhearing some conversations on my job, I was disgusted and saddened by the hypocrisy coming out of the mouth of these people. One minute they were talking about a sermon and the next cursing ‘something serious’. I was thinking about making this devotional really pretty and extensive, but honestly, it doesn’t have to be that way. James cut straight to the point in verse 10, followed by more examples about how this is ridiculous! “Does a spring poor out sweet and bitter water from the same opening? (v11) Basically James is like, either you are going to bless and praise God and speak those things that are positive and good OR you are going to speak negatively, use profanity, and be ratchet in your speech. BUT you can’t do both. It just doesn’t match. You really think God is happy with you singing on the praise team and being hype for him in church but you go home and dogging someone out or cursing later in the week. NAW bruh. Daddy don’t get down like that.

So we have to make a commitment to monitor our speech to make sure it is blessing and wholesome! Be consistent in your speech! If you gonna be ratchet, gone head and do it. But if you gonna be effective in your speech and positive, gone head and do it. CHALLENGE: Philippians 4:8.

Be blessed! Love YOU!
