Don’t be Cocky. God can use somebody else.

By: Monique Smith

Hope you all have had a pleasant day! Can you feel how blessed you are?! : ) It’s a beautiful thang, beautiful thang! Anyways, the text is coming from:

1 Samuel 2:22-

(This book is going sooooo hard right now! They going in!)

In short, God got upset about Eli and his son’s disrespect for sacrifices made to God in the temple. Eli actually gave more honor to his sons than he did to God. Andd on top of that, Eli already KNEW his sons were living hot mess lives! They were sleeping with the women who were serving at the tent, but Eli still allowed them to hold a position in the temple amidst their mess. Because of this and Eli’s lack of reverence towards God, God REJECTED the promise he gave to Eli! (Pause. Yes; God actually did renege on His promise because He was tired of putting up with Eli’s mess! Crazy right? Not. He’s God.) So regardless of the fact that a person my be our mama, best friend, girlfriend, uncle, or brother, if they are holding a position in the faith, we are charged to correct them! How does that make our dad look if we allow people to parade around proclaiming His name but acting COMPLETELY out of character behind closed doors? Makes Him look like a fool. From the text, we see that through Eli’s disobedience, God’s promise of blessings upon his family was rejected and sorrow and turmoil would replace those blessings (#tragic, literally). AND, if that wasn’t enough, God raised up another priest in their place!

I am so tired of “called” people living their lives any kind of way! You already know God has assigned you to do great things in the kingdom and that your lifestyle is to be one of holiness, but yet and still, you frolic around like God is going to wait until you decide to walk into your calling! Hummm. Not so! The song, “What God has for me, it is for me” is SOOO easily misconstrued when it comes to situations like this. Yea, the devil can’t steal your purpose or the plan God has for you, but God CAN and WILL reject your promises or your purpose if you continue to live your life in disobedience! (Romans 1- talks about God giving those people over to their ratchet lifestyles) As called people, we can’t hide our sins, rebellions, or disobedience from God and we can’t even hide it from other believers. How so? Well, others will know something is different about you because God may increase their spirit of discernment, God may give them revelation, or God may magnify the changes in your attitude and personality and other people will know that you are not living as you should. So people of God, we have to realize that there IS a standard and because we have been CALLED, it is imperative that we live our lives ON PURPOSE because God will only put up with our mess for so long….and then He’s on to tha next one!

Prayer: God we love you! You are so cool! God reveal to us the areas in our lives where we need to tighten up! Give us more courage and strength to go head on into the things of God and allow your purpose and glory to flow through us! Help us realize that YOU are enough! YOU God, are enough for us! We love you and praise you! In Jesus mighty name! Amen! : )
