Am I the only one who plans on always doing better next week? Whenever I’m off in my Bible reading or too lazy to workout one day, I always comfort myself by saying, “Well, next week, things will be much better!” This trap right here is EXACTLY where the enemy wants us to stay. The devil’s whole purpose is to throw us off and make us inconsistent!
“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
(1 Corinthians 15: 58)
As Christians, we have made the conscious decision to live our lives “Christ- Like”. If we look at the characteristics of our brother (pause. How cool is it to call Jesus our brother!?! resume.), EVERYTHING about Him is consistent. He always loved everyone, He was always obedient, and He always acted in a way that was pleasing to DADDY. Our DADDY is beyond belief in His consistency. EVERY Word that He has ever spoken has come to past or is soon to come to past. So, since we have been adopted into the family and are now joint heirs, we should know that inconsistency is not a characteristic that is exemplary of our family! Inconsistency must be a characteristic of someone else, someone who wants to disqualify our family membership. I really want you all to consider your ways. Are there goals you have started in relation to strengthening your relationship with Christ that you have abandoned? When is the last time you memorized a scripture? Once we become slack on things, ESPECIALLY the things of God, it seems almost impossible to catch back up! But there is hope in Christ! We know that through Him we will always conquer any situation because of the power that lives within us! We have to activate our strength and really stay focused on our goals and our short/long term commitments in life. I challenge you, as I am being challenged as well, to work on being more consistent each and every day. We do not want to stay consistently inconsistent because with that, our spiritual walk will suffer and will soon die.
Hope this was beneficial to y’all. It was just on my mind today because once again, I have gotten slack on many goals I have been working on and getting to sleep at a decent hour has been one that has suffered. I have not made it to bed by 11 in about three weeks, therefore making me sleepy in the morning when I arise, or even leaving me to wake up late. Which then causes me to rush to get ready, leaving me to forfeit my appointment with my Word and prayer with DADDY. See how the enemy can gain victory from our inconsistencies? So let’s get back on track and become consistent!
*God we love you and worship you! Help us become more and more like you and exude your characteristics every day! You are the best DADDY ever! Love you! In Jesus name!”
